'Open Door' All-age Worship

The Open Door service grew out of a monthly family service and although it does not continue that theme it has some of that character of informality.

Open Door follows the 9.30am service and starts at 11am on Sundays.

The intention of Open Door is to complement the traditional 9.30am Communion Service
and to provide a service which is easier for people to participate in who are not used to liturgy (prescribed forms of worship) and the formality of the earlier service.
If you want to tie a label to it, Open Door would be Low Church Evangelical.

The music in Open Door is predominantly modern in character, in the sense of having been written in the last forty years, and is lead by a song group. We try to keep abreast of new songs that become available by buying new songbooks as they come on the market.

The themes for the service are intended to be relevant to the daily life and experiences of Christians living in a post Christian society.

We do away with the usual pile of books handed to people as they arrive, by using an overhead projector and screen. So there is no possibility of being lost along the way.
We have a crèche and a small Sunday school for the children.

The second Sunday of each month is a Youth Service for the uniformed organisations that are linked to the church (Scouts, Guides, Brownies, Beavers). These services are led by the children with direction from their leaders.

On the third Sunday in the month there is an informal communion at the end of the normal Open Door service, with the Communion table set up in the nave (the main part) of the church, among the congregation.

After the service everyone is welcome to join us in the church hall (adjoining the church) to chat and have a cup of tea or coffee.
